Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto
Schumann Symphony No. 3
World renowned violinist Midori feels passionately that people must have access to a variety of great music, regardless of their age, race, geographic location or financial means. To this end, she has created Midori & Friends in response to serious cutbacks in music education in New York City schools; Music Sharing to contribute to a well-rounded education for children in Japan; Partners in Performance to broaden the audience for chamber music; and Orchestra Residencies Program.
Midori, one of the world's greatest violinists, has given much of her time and talent to helping young musicians. The CSO is one of two orchestras in the United States that has won the opportunity to host Midori in residency October 13-17, 2010. She will perform with both the CSO Orchestra and CSO Youth Orchestras in concert, as well as participate in master classes, coaching sessions, and various meetings and events to promote music education in the community.
Midori’s concerts with the Chattanooga Symphony and the CSO Youth Orchestras are part of her Orchestra Residencies Program, a special project which aims to strengthen the ties of the American youth orchestra to its local adult orchestra, as well as to bolster relationships with performers, staff, and the community-at-large.
