From The Conductor

Dear Friends of Chattanooga Symphony and Opera,

First of all, I would like to thank you for welcoming me to your beautiful city last year! I am overwhelmed by the warmth and enthusiasm I witnessed during the last season and I am extremely proud to lead your CSO.

I am excited to present to you the CSO's 2012-13 Season. Some of the highlights of the Masterworks Series include Verdi Requiem, Mahler Symphony No. 5, Brahms Symphony No. 2, Beethoven Symphony No. 2, and Elgar Enigma Variations. This season, we will also feature a contemporary composer, Michael Daugherty, who will be visiting us to offer insights of his composition techniques and inspiration. We'll be joined by fantastic guest artists also. I am extremely thrilled to "show off" some of dear my friends Qing Jiang (piano) and Pablo Sainz Villegas (guitar) who are beautiful and exciting artists.

For the Pops Series, I am excited to lead "Home for the Holidays" and our Music Director Emeritus, Robert Bernhardt will lead "The Beatles", "Sinatra & Friends" and as always, "Big Band Fever" with a very special guest artist, Doc Severinsen!

The Chamber Series will feature some of my favorite works: Mozart Symphony No. 25, Telemann Viola Concerto with our Principal Viola Robert Elder, and Mozart Gran Partita, to name a few. I am planning to dust off my flute once again!

We certainly hope to see all of you at our performances. We are excited to share some fascinating works with you next season, and you don't want to miss a single beat!

Sincerely,

Kayoko Dan
